My doctoral thesis looks at the growing popularity and increase of international schools in the city of Pune from a Cultural Political Economy (CPE) perspective. I use the methodology of the 'bricolage' to put together a picture that explores where these schools are emerging in the urban context of the city, who the promoters are, how these schools are marketed on their websites, who the parents accessing these schools are, and the nature of teachers' experiences in these schools.
My work was supervised by Professor Nandini Manjrekar (Retd.) at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
Keywords: sociology of education, elite schools, international schools, class, teachers in Inda
I am currently working on three research papers based on my doctoral research work and am open to collaborations for other projects in education, sociology, and language pedagogy.
